Smokers BBQ Pit Fire Under Investigation by Worcester County Fire Marshal
Ocean City Firefighters were called for a structure fire just after 4 Tuesday morning at Smokers BBQ Pit on Stephen Decatur Highway. Crews arriving at the scene found fire on the outside of the building and were able to bring the fire quickly under control however there was fire and smoke damage extending through the inside of the building as well. The Worcester County Fire Marshal is investigating, and the cause remains under investigation. Severe weather is believed to have been a contributing factor.
Smokers BBQ Pit management posted on its Facebook page that they are closed until further notice. It’s believed the building was struck by lightning during the early morning storm – and the whole inside was destroyed by the fire as well as part of the side building. They do plan to rebuild.
