Smyrna Detective Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges

A detective with the Smyrna Police Department has been arrested on charges of violations of federal child sexual exploitation laws. US Attorney for the District of Delaware officials say 33 year old Michael Kealty distributed child porn through his Snapchat account in August of this year. Federal agents went into his home with a search warrant in September where they found additional child porn in his Snapchat account. Kealty is charged with distribution and possession of child porn.
Kealty faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison – with a maximum penalty of 20 year for the distribution charge. For possession he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years.
