Somerset County Detention Center Escapee Captured

UPDATED: Maryland State Police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office say they have apprehended the suspect who escaped from the Somerset County Detention Center on Tuesday night.

Police say 29-year-old Anthony Lowell Horsey, Jr. of Westover escaped from the detention center in the evening hours of Tuesday. He was served a warrant around 8:00 p.m. and taken before the court commissioner on second degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use during a felony and other related charges. He was ordered held without bond.

Around 10:45 p.m. that evening, while being escorted and handcuffed, he escaped from police custody at the rear door of the Somerset County Detention Center on Revells Neck Road in Princess Anne. He escaped under a fence near the entrance gate in a wooded area.

Horsey was apprehended without incident around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Wicomico County. Police say he was in a car traveling on Rum Ridge Road near the Maryland-Delaware state line.

Police say Horsey will face additional charges as a result of this incident. Their investigation is ongoing.
