Somerset County Man Sentenced on Sexual Abuse Charges in Wicomico County

A 68 year old Somerset County man has been sentenced to prison on sex offenses. Court records show James Hayman pleaded guilty in July to sexual abuse of a minor and 3rd degree sexual offense. On Friday, Wicomico County Circuit Court Judge S. James Sarbanes sentenced Hayman to 35 years in prison – the maximum sentence allowed. Sentencing had been deferred pending completion of a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health assessment. Hayman will also be required to register as a Tier III sex offender.
Records show that in December of 2022, Hayman sexually abused a minor in his care who was under the age of 13.
