South Bethany Municipal Election Canceled – 1 Council Seat Remains Vacant
March 24, 2026/
There will be no election in South Bethany on May 9th. The Board of Elections has confirmed the candidates who filed for mayor and two of the three Council seats. Edie Dondero will return to the Mayor’s office. Steven Gallagher and incumbent Robert Shields will take two of the three open seats on the Council. Robert Biciocchi and Randy Bartholomew did not run for re-election.
The three candidates will be sworn for two-year terms at the Town Council Organizational Meeting to be held at a later date, which will be posted on the town’s website.
In 2023, only 2 candidates filed for 3 open seats on the South Bethany Town Council and that vacancy was filled by appointment.
