A brief barrage of heavy winds, rain, and thunderstorms that swept through parts of Sussex County on Monday caused damage at Stango Park in Lewes, uprooting trees and resulting in the temporary relocation of the Lewes Summer Concert series.

“Due to storm damage in Stango Park this afternoon, the Lewes Summer Concert with The Gibbonses will be moved indoors at Cape Henlopen High School located at 1250 Kings Highway Lewes on Tuesday August 20th at 7 p.m.,” Alison Kirk, the city’s Parks & Marina Administrator, stated in an advisory.

At least two trees were uprooted as a result of the storm. The park’s outdoor venue sustained no structural damage. Work is currently underway to remove the debris.

The 2019 summer concert series lineup is sponsored by the City of Lewes, WSFS Bank, and by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information on the concert series, click here.
