Structure Fire in Delmar Linked to Burn Pit

A structure fire that occurred yesterday afternoon on Roy West Road in Delmar in Wicomico County was determined to have been accidental. According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, occupants of the residence were using a burn pit approximately an hour before the fire. The occupants thought the fire was completely out and left the residence. By the time they arrived back the shed had caught on fire. The winds and dry conditions contributed to the cause of the fire. The blaze caused an estimated loss of $225,000. No injuries were reported.
