Suspicious Item Brings in Bomb Squad in Salisbury

A suspicious item found on East Market Street led to a coordinated response between the Salisbury Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal. Fire officials were called just after 12 noon requesting the assistance of the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad after an item that resembled a pipe bomb was found during a brush fire.

Bomb technicians diagnosed the item and concluded it was not hazardous and presented no danger to the public. The area was searched by explosive and accelerant detection K9 units and nothing was found. The scene was cleared just after 2:30 pm.
