UPDATED: The Sussex County Council has said no to a convenience store with gas at the intersection of Route 24 and Angola Road.  The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the application in spite of the many area residents who spoke out against the application before both P&Z and the County Council during public hearings.  An earlier application for a change of zone for a convenience store on the same property was also denied by the County Council in 2018.

The Sussex County Council returns to Georgetown this morning – and will begin by reorganizing with an election of Council officers, the council member appointments, appointment of legal council and adoption of the rules of procedure.  In Old Business the County Council will revisit a conditional use application for a convenience store and gas station at the corner of Route 24 and Angola Road in Angola.  There is no afternoon session scheduled.  Today’s meeting begins at 10am in the Council Chambers on the Circle in Georgetown.
