UPDATED: Two Charged after Shooting Incident in Cordova
UPDATED – 0/23/26 – Two people have been charged in connection with an accidental shooting that occurred in Cordova on January 4th after a preliminary investigation indicated that a 2 year old got a hold of a firearm and discharged a round into a 4 year old sibling – striking them in the leg.
The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office has charged 26 year old Jody Jackson and 26 year old Brianna Boyle with one count each of reckless endangerment and firearms access to minors. Both were issued a criminal summons and released.
The injured child was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital – however, medical evaluation of the victim could not definitely determine that the child was injured as a result of gunfire. If you have information on this incident, contact the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office at 410-822-1020.

ORIGINAL STORY – 01/06/26 – The Talbot County Sheriff is investigating a shooting in Cordova that occurred Sunday afternoon just before 2:30. Deputies were called to a home on Skipton Cordova Road and learned that a 2 year old child got a hold of a firearm and discharged a round striking a 4 year old sibling in the lower leg. The 4 year old was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information should contact the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office at 410-822-1020.
Maryland law requires firearms in households with children under the age of 16 be unloaded and secured unless the child is being supervised by an adult 18 years or older.
