Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 04/01/26
Fishing on open water has been nearly impossible due to the wind. Even if the wind would have dropped out, the water temperature in the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean has been too cold for even tog to bite. As of Tuesday, we could see some improvement in that department as the water temperature at the Delaware Lightship was 24.1 degrees and at Lewes we hit the magic number of 50 degrees. I suspect that the air temperature at Lewes was over 80 degrees had something to do with the rise in water temperature.
Fish are being caught out of tidal creeks and rivers and according to Captain Bones at Odessa and Steve at Smith Bait in Leipsic small striped bass and good sized white perch are being taken on blood worms at Woodland Beach.
Carol at Taylor Tackle in Seaford told me white perch and some big crappy have been caught in the Nanticoke River on minnows and blood worms.
