Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 05/09/25
Anglers across Delaware are enjoying a productive start to May, with a variety of species active in both saltwater and freshwater.
Striped bass are being caught near the Cape Henlopen fishing pier and along the Outer Wall, with fresh bunker and bloodworms proving effective. Black drum are also making appearances in the bay, particularly near the Coral Beds, where peeler or female crabs are the top bait.聽
The north jetty is yielding large striped bass, with catches over 40 inches reported during early morning hours. The tog bite remains steady, and bluefish are hitting in the inlet, with notable catches like a 34-inch blue landed in the south pocket.聽
Surf anglers are reporting catches of black drum and bluefish along the beaches. Fresh bunker and live surf clams are effective baits.聽
White perch are still being caught from the fishing pier at Woodland Beach.聽
Expect partly sunny skies with a chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon, a high of 72掳F, and a low of 59掳F. The weekend looks promising, with sunny to partly cloudy conditions and highs around 70掳F.
