Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 07/23/25

Tuesday was a beautiful summer day, but not many people were fishing and I think I know why. I stopped by Lewes Harbour Marina this morning and all but one of the charter boats was tied to the dock. People want to bring some fish home when they spend over $200 a day to go fishing and with the ridiculous size restrictions currently in place they may be catching plenty of sea bass and flounder, but they will be lucky if they can keep one in ten. One boat has moved to the bay to catch croaker and spot.

As a member of the advisory council for summer flounder, scup and black sea bass I have pushed for lowering the size limit on sea bass and flounder, but to no avail. The result is empty boats, full tackle shops and people who will find another sport.
