Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 10/22/23

Sunday it was small craft advisories and no boats on the ocean or bay. It looks like Tuesday before anyone can get past the inlets.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle was the only reporting station in Sussex County with any good news. They said tog and a few sheepshead were caught out of Indian River Inlet on sand fleas and green crabs.

I did get some good reports of blue catfish out of the tidal rivers that feed the Chesapeake Bay. That includes the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek that you can access in Delaware. I have fished for blue cats at Santee-Cooper in South Carolina and while those fish did not reach the size of the two recent ones that set Delaware State Records, they were fun to catch and good to eat. This is a cut bait fishery with bunker the choice for most local anglers. Live sunfish were used to set the most recent state record that topped 50 pounds.

This is Eric Burnley with your Talk of DelMarVa Fishing Report.
