Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 6-22-23

Thursday was another miserable day with wind and rain causing small craft advisories on the waters and few if any fishermen about. I wish I had better news for the weekend, but we just can’t seem to break this horrible weather pattern. I have been around for quite a few years, and I can’t remember a June as cold and wet as this one.

When we have a long, hard blow like this it can take a few days for the fishing to return to normal, whatever that is. The water in the Indian River Inlet and the surf will be stirred up until the sand settles back down to the bottom. The bottomfish, such as flounder and sea bass, will be off their feed due to the fact that their home has been rocked pretty good for several days by the same big waves that have been seen on the surface. Even offshore fishing will suffer as baitfish schools have been scattered by the storms.
