Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 6-30-23
Friday was a beautiful day to be on the water and lots of fish were caught.
We don’t usually begin with a freshwater catch, but this fish is pretty special. Johnathan Stoddard from Georgetown caught an 8-pound, 2-ounce large-mouth bass out of the head of the Broadkill River in Milton. The fish hit a 6th Sense Quake lure that Johnathan bought at Henlopen Tackle in Lewes. I know bass fishermen who would sell their soul to the Devil for an 8-pound large-mouth. Congratulations to Johnathan!
At Lewes Harbour Marina, Bill reported that the Savannah Lynn with Captain Keith Bentley had 54 black sea bass and 2 flounder on Thursday. On Friday, the Katydid and the Surface Tension both had limit catches of flounder from ocean structure. Several private boats had a mixed bag of trout, croaker and flounder from bay structure.
Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park reported that spot and croaker were caught on bloodworms and Fishbites.
