Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 7-3-23

Monday was still a little windy on the ocean with 10 to 15 knots out of the southwest and gusts to 20 knots. This made for difficult drifting conditions and that cut down on the flounder action.

Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid did manage to bring in some flounder. No other boats ran out on Monday.

At Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park they said there was a good bite of croaker and spot in the morning with bloodworms and Fishbites the main baits. A few flounder were caught on live minnows. When I called in the late afternoon the bite was starting up again.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported that flounder, stripers and sheepshead were caught out of Indian River Inlet. Live minnows for the flounder, bucktails for the stripers and sand fleas for the sheepshead.

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said it was tough fishing for flounder and sea bass due to the wind and current. A few boats did try the ocean structure, but they only caught a few fish for their customers.
