Talk of Delmarva Special Fishing Report 12/5/23

As promised, I am back with news of big striped bass along the Delaware coast, but that is not the big news. What we have now is something I have never seen in Delaware waters.

Hillery Graves fishing on the Bird Dog with Captain Chip Graves caught a 56-inch bluefin tuna by trolling a blue and white Joe Shute lure with a ballyhoo at Fenwick Shoal. Ben Nichols fished at Fenwick Shoal on Queen of the Tides to catch a 145-pound bluefin. Both catches were reported by Lewes Harbour Marina. I also heard that more bluefin were caught at Fenwick Shoal by boats from Ocean City, Maryland. Since I have not been out there I can’t say for certain, but I suspect there were schools of menhaden bunched up on the shoals and that brought in the bluefin.

There were large striped bass caught just outside of Indian River Inlet during the same time frame.

This is Eric Burnley with your Talk of DelMarVa Fishing Report.
