Three Suspects Arrested for Slew of Kent County Car Break Ins

Delaware State Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a spree of thefts from motor vehicles occurring in the Hartly and Marydel areas.

Troopers began their investigation in early December of last year after discovering three thefts of unsecured vehicles on Proctors Purchase Road in Hartly. The vehicles were rummaged through and items were stolen. Then on December 21, troopers say they were made aware of six more incidents on Mahan Corner Road in Marydel. Between January 2 and January 7, four additional incidents were reported from victims on Slaughter Station Road and Hartly Road. On January 2, a shed was burglarized at a property in the 1800 block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly. On January 6 and 7, three more incidents took place on Sandy Bend Road and Tappahana Bridge Road. During one of the thefts, an ATV was removed from the bed of a truck.

In the course of their investigation, Troopers were able to identify the suspect who fled from the ATV that was located at the Hartly/Marydel Little League field, as 18-year-old Daniel Sangtangelo of Marydel. On January 15, he turned himself in and was charged with third degree burglary, 3 counts of felony theft, 3 counts of conspiracy in the second degree, 11 counts of conspiracy in the third degree, 11 counts of misdemeanor theft, 3 counts of attempted theft and 14 counts of criminal trespass. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Two more suspects were identified as 19-year-old Travis Martin of Marydel and 17-year-old James Plymire of Marydel.

On Thursday, Martin was arrested at Dover High School and transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with third degree burglary, 3 counts of felony theft, 3 counts of second degree conspiracy, 11 counts of third degree conspiracy, 11 counts of misdemeanor theft, 3 counts of attempted theft and 14 counts of criminal trespass. He was also arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Also on Thursday, Plymire turned himself in and was charged with third degree burglary, 2 counts of felony theft, 2 counts of 2nd degree conspiracy, 10 counts of third degree conspiracy, 11 counts of misdemeanor theft, 1 count of attempted theft and 12 counts of criminal trespass. Plymire, a minor was arraigned and released to an adult relative.
