Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Salisbury Man for Drugs and 3rd Offense DUI

A traffic stop around 11pm last Wednesday night led to the arrest of a Salisbury man. Delaware State Police spotted a BMW with Maryland tags speeding on Delmar Road. The vehicle failed to stay in it lane and crossed onto the shoulder and into the grass. During the traffic stop, police identified the driver as 61 year old Oscar Johnson of Salisbury, who showed signs of impairment. The trooper saw the driver kick a plastic bag under the vehicle ā the bag was recovered and contained suspected crack cocaine. A pill bottle with a white powdery substance was also located.
Johnson was taken to Troop 5 where the substances tested positive for cocaine. A blood search warrant was obtained and Johnson was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- 3rd Offense DUI (Felony)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Driving without a Valid License
- Multiple Traffic Offenses
Johnson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $30,106 secured bond.
