Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Marijuana, Stolen Gun

A traffic stop in the Laurel area has led to the arrests of two people for drugs-and-weapons charges.
According to Delaware State Police, a driver was pulled over for speeding on Laurel Road near Shiloh Church Road. The smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle led to an investigation.
State Police said a 15-year-old juvenile passenger was in possession of about 40-grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and a loaded 9-millimeter Ruger handgun that was reported stolen by Milford Police in September 2020.
Also, 25-grams of marijuana and a digital scale were found in a backpack.
The juvenile was charged with drug-related offenses and weapons offenses.
The driver, 18-year-old Tyre Thomas of Laurel, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The juvenile was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and committed to Stevenson House on $25,502 secured bond.
