Trooper Involved Shooting During A Call For Service In Queen Anne’s County


Police are investigating a trooper-involved shooting that occurred during a call for service Thursday afternoon in Queen Anne’s County. According to Maryland State Police, around 3:40 p.m. yesterday April 16th, troopers from the Centreville Barrack responded to the unit block of Sherman Way in Chester for reports of a man threatening others with a knife. Authorities say the man advanced toward a trooper while armed, prompting the trooper to fire, striking him. The man was treated at the scene and flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a trauma center. No other injuries were reported. The trooper has been placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office and oversight from the State’s Attorney’s Office. Internal Affairs is also conducting a review.
