Two Arrested by Easton Police after Home Invasion
A Federalsburg man has been arrested for a home invasion at the Days Inn Hotel in Easton on Tuesday afternoon. Easton Police learned that just after 1:30pm a man with a gun entered a hotel room and confronted a man and woman inside. The victims were able to escape uninjured and contacted police who, with help from the Talbot County Sheriff’s office, located the suspect – 40 year old Earnest Young, Jr. of Federalsburg a short time later. A loaded 9mm handgun was located by police near the original scene. Young is charged with multiple offenses:
- Home Invasion
- 1st Degree Assault
- Reckless Endangerment
- Firearm Use During the Commission of a Felony/Violent Crime
- Firearm Possession with a Felony Conviction
- Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm
- Illegal Possession of Ammunition
Young was later released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.Â
Police also learned that the woman, 29 year old Katherine Adkins of Easton aided Young after the fact by telling police that no weapon was involved in the incident and that Young never entered her room. A witness told police Adkins took the weapon and hid it in another room before police arrived. Adkins is charged with the following:
- Accessory after the Fact
- Handgun on Person
- Loaded Handgun on Person
- Alter Physical Evidence
- False Statement to OfficerÂ
She was later released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.
