Two arrested on drug, weapons charges in Bridgeville

Two were arrested on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in Bridgeville.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 8 p.m., Tuesday after troopers spotted a gray Honda Accord traveling above the posted speed limit on Coverdale Road, south of Seashore Highway in Bridgeville.

A traffic stop was initatied and contact was made with the driver, 23-year-old Alondra Santiago, of Milford, and passenger, 23-year-old Wenndalon Green, of Milford, who were not wearing their seatbelts.

Troopers spotted a firearm in plain view inside the vehicle, according to police.

A 7-month-old child was in the car at the time of the incident and was not properly restrained.

Santiago and Green initially provided troopers with a false name, according to police. A computer inquiry revealed Green had an active capias for traffic violations.

A search of the vehicle turned up 33.63 grams of marijuana and 31.97 grams of THC.

Santiago was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm, Provide false statement to Law Enforcement, Conspiracy Second Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of Marijuana, Speeding, Driver must wear properly adjusted and fastened seatbelt, Driver of Motor Vehicle Shall Properly Secure all Passengers, and Child Under 8 must be in Child Restraint.

Santiago was arraigned and released on $35400.00 unsecured bond.

Green was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm, Provide false statement to Law Enforcement, Conspiracy Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Green was arraigned and released on $44000.00 unsecured bond.
