Two in Custody After Shots Fired At Apartment Complex in Laurel


A shots fired complaint in the Holly Brook Apartment Complex involving a vehicle led to the arrest of two individuals. Officers began to initiate contact with the parked vehicle. Police say it then attempted to leave the apartment complex and entered the roadway without activating the headlights; causing a public safety hazard. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.聽 During this traffic stop, officers were advised of the incident in which the shots were fired. 22-year-old Tyjah Jenkins and 25-year-old Richelson Charles, both of Laurel, were found wearing clothing matching the description of suspects involved in the incident. Both individuals were detained. During a traffic stop, Jenkins showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.聽 A search of their vehicle revealed over 1100 grams of marijuana, two digital scales, packaging materials, and two loaded handguns. Both Jenkins and Charles are at SCI in lieu of posting cash bail.聽

-Failure to Have Lights On When Required
Jenkins was committed to SCI in lieu of posting $54,102.00 cash bail.
