Young, male harp seal rescued by MERR at North Shores in Rehoboth Beach

A young male harp seal was rescued by officials from the Marine Education, Research & Rehabilitation (MERR) Institute in Lewes last week on the beach at North Shores in Rehoboth Beach. A passerby spotted the seal rolling on its back, which officials say could be caused by a lice infection, and contacted MERR. MERR found the seal to be underweight in addition to his behavior and he was collected from the beach, treated and taken to the National Aquarium for the remainder of his rehabilitation.
