Unofficial School Board Election Results in Delmar & Milford

There were just two out of six School Districts in Sussex County that had contested school board elections on Tuesday.
DELMAR
There will be two new faces on the Delmar School Board. Delmar School District voters chose two new At-Large representatives from a field of three candidates. Neil Baker won the most votes with 244 and Jordan Johnson received 227. Shawn Brittingham came in third with 169 votes. Neither incumbent Farrah Morelli or Dawn Litchford ran for re-election.
MILFORD
In Milford there were two running for the District C seat and incumbent Cindy McKenzie will be returning to the Milford School Board after winning 378 votes to Nik Dutta-Roy’s 36 votes.
Also in the Milford School District – Scott Fitzgerald will return in District D and Sara Hale will fill the vacancy in the At-Large seat which was vacated by current school board member Matt Bucher, who resigned to run for the District 33 seat in the State House. Neither Fitzgerald nor Hale was opposed.

There were no elections held in the other Sussex County School Districts. In Cape Henlopen School District, incumbents Julie Derrick and Janice Hanwell were the only candidates for the District D and At-Large seats.
Laurel School District will see incumbent D. Brent Nichols and newcomer Zach Whaley fill two open At-Large seats on the Board. Linda Hitchens did not run for re-election.
The Seaford School Board also had two At-Large seats up for election – and both incumbents, Kimberly Hopkins and Marcus Wright were the only candidates to file.
The Woodbridge School District will also return two incumbents to two vacant At-Large seats – Timothy Banks and Rita Hovermale were both unopposed.
