UPDATED: Viewings, Funeral For Former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner


UPDATED 12:30pm: On Wednesday, November 10, Governor John Carney, First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney, Governor Minner’s family, current and past members of the Cabinet and General Assembly, former staff, and members of the community will attend Governor Minner’s memorial service. The service will be live-streamed on de.gov/live.
The service will begin at 1pm in Milford.

President Biden is expected to attend the funeral.

Milford Police have shared this traffic advisory concerning the funeral for Governor Ruth Ann Minner:

**Traffic Advisory** On Wednesday, November 10th, Governor Minner’s funeral services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene and with the procession to follow to the Slaughter Neck Cemetery in Argos Corner. There will be altered traffic patterns in the area of the church which is located at the corner of Salevan Place and North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) beginning at approximately 9:00 am. Personnel from the Delaware Department of Transportation will have a complete closure of Salevan Place and a closure of the right hand lane of North DuPont Boulevard from the Milford Community Cemetery to Northwest 10th Street until the end of the event. The crossover adjacent to the cemetery on North DuPont Boulevard will be closed as well. Southbound traffic looking for funeral parking should follow traffic control in the area. The ONLY access to the public parking will be through the Milford Community Cemetery entrance on North DuPont Boulevard. Attached are images with details of the procession route following the service (anticipated between 2:15 and 2:45). We urge motorist to adjust your travel schedule if this area is included in your travels and those who must travel in the area to expect altered traffic patterns and delays.


Ruth Ann Minner, the first woman elected Governor of Delaware, is being laid to rest this week.

According to DelDOT, motorists should expect traffic delays in Milford and on Route 1 due to the procession. Milford Police, Delaware State Police and DelDOT will coordinate with traffic measures.
