===========================================

DNREC has issued a water quality advisory for Slaughter Beach until 3pm Thursday, May 24, following bacterial results which were above the recreational water quality standard. This time of year thousands of migrating shorebirds visit the Delaware Bay Coast and the droppings they leave behind contain the same fecal indicator bacteria used to test recreation water quality. Increased rainfall can result in these indicator bacteria washing into the near shore waters. Additional water quality samples have been taken at Slaughter Beach and the advisory will be lifted once indicator bacteria levels are within the recreational water limits.
