Commercial Vehicle Operators are being notified that the westbound Bay Bridge height clearance will be reduced to 14′ 6″ for about 6 months beginning on April 23.  Vehicles above this height should plan to take an alternate route.

Maryland Transportation officials say the reduced clearance is necessary to complete the final phase of westbound span painting, which began in summer 2017 and involves cleaning and painting the through-truss span and welded steel-girder spans on the eastern portion of the bridge.  The contractor will be installing a platform to contain materials that result from the cleaning and painting operation that will take place above the roadway.  The project is expected to be complete in summer 2020.
