WGMD Fishing Report 12-15-19

Saturday was just a bad day with rain, fog and small craft advisories.  Expect gale warnings on Sunday.

Anglers fishing out of Cape Charles, Virginia are catching rockfish to over 50 pounds on live eels drifted under bobbers.  The Baltimore Channel edge is the place to be.

Those who have never fished from Cape Charles will find the boat ramp out of town on the south side of the harbor.  The channel runs south out of Cape Charles and once clear of it, you run west to the Baltimore Channel.

Live eels can be hard to find at times so either bring them with you or call ahead to Sea Hawk Tackle on Route 13 in Pocomoke City, Maryland or Chris’ Bait and Tackle on Route 13 just south of Cape Charles.

You will need a Virginia Saltwater Fishing License.  These are available online.

I have made this on a one-day trip and the drive each way is about three hours from Lewes.  Like all fishing, nothing is guaranteed, but if you are looking for a 50 pounder, this is your best chance.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
