WGMD Fishing Report 3-12-18

rob-carson

Sunday saw decent weather, but I had to work so no fishing for me.  I didn’t hear of any fish caught, but I am sure that the freshwater ponds and the upper reaches of the tidal rivers and creeks gave up some perch, crappie, bass and pickerel.

The Joe Morris Memorial Canal Flounder Tournament will be held on May 18, 2018 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  The tournament waters will be from the Canal entrance to Roosevelt Inlet and in the Broadkill River from Oyster Rocks to Roosevelt Inlet.  All entry fees will be given out as prize money and as a donation to Pancreatic Cancer Research.  The amount of money awarded will be dependent on the number of anglers entered.

Historically, this contest has drawn as many as 400 anglers and the prize money and donation to pancreatic research has been in the thousands of dollars.  The contest only runs one day and while you may have to ask off of work I believe it is a worthy cause and you can walk away with some big money for one flounder.

This is Eric Burnley with you WGMD fishing report.
