WGMD Fishing Report 3-15-18

Spring starts on Tuesday and if the weather reports are correct we are going to have another nor’easter to get the season off to a cold and wet beginning.  I recall some pretty big snowfalls in March, but this is getting ridiculous!  Perhaps the storm next week will be the one to turn the weather around.  I certainly hope so.

As for fishing on Wednesday, I don’t believe there was much.  I went outside to get the mail and fill the bird feeders and came in chilled to the bone.  Don’t look for any relief until the weekend and then we may have daytime temperatures above 50 degrees.

In reports from other areas, my son Ric fished out of Virginia Beach over the weekend.  They ran for three hours down to the Point off of Oregon Inlet arriving just before daybreak.  No sooner did they get the spread out and they caught a 200-pound plus bluefin.  They released a couple more in the 200 to 300-pound class before catching a couple smaller fish.  They were done by 9:00 AM and back in Virginia Beach around noon.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
