WGMD Fishing Report 3-6-18

The only report I had from the past weekend was from a fellow who tried the trout fishing at Newton Pond near Greenwood.  He didn’t catch anything and saw very few fish caught with the exception on one angler fishing from the pier who had four.  That has been my experience in years past.  Sooner or later I am going to figure out what the guy on the pier is using for bait.

The rest of the week is not looking very good weather wise.  Winds to 35 knots and seas to 12 feet don’t make for a good fishing experience.

As I feared, the hard and cold west wind lowered the water temperature in the ocean to 41.2 and in the bay to 41.4.  You need temperatures in the mid to upper 40s before tog become active.

With high winds, heavy rain and cold temperatures I won’t fishing anytime soon.  I would love to hit the upper Broadkill for some perch, but just don’t love a perch enough to spend time in the cold and we t to catch some.

This is Eric Burnley with you WGMD fishing report.
