WGMD Fishing Report 4-1-22

bill-o

There was a gale warning up on Friday that ran until 2:00 AM on Saturday. Small craft advisories will be up on Saturday for northwest winds at 15 to 20 knots with gusts to 25 and seas of 3 to five feet. The wind is supposed to fall out during the day. Sunday we are supposed to get southwest winds at 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 25 and 3-foot seas. The water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy is 46.6 degrees and at Lewes the temperature is 49.1

Still no boats running from either Delaware port, but folks are fishing the spillway in Milton. My dogwood tree in in blossom so I expect the shad are running. Just be careful you don’t put a herring in your cooler. Those fish are closed and possession is prohibited.

Before our recent experience with the polar express, I saw photos of some 25 to 35-pound black drum caught from the surf at Assateague Island.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
