WGMD Fishing Report 4-14-18

bill-o

Friday was a very nice, warm day unless you wanted to go fishing on the ocean or bay.  There were small craft advisories flying and the water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy was 45.3 degrees.  The air temperature was 48 degrees.  The water temperature has gone up two degrees since Wednesday so perhaps all that sunshine is having the desired effect.

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em reported the No Limit had a limit of tog on Wednesday.  No other boats have gone out and it doesn’t look good unless someone wants to try a quick shot on Sunday morning before the wind and thunderstorms arrive.

I would guess your best bet for the weekend would be fishing for white perch in the tidal rivers and creeks.  Bloodworms and live minnows have been the top baits.  Freshwater fishing has been fair for pickerel, bass, crappie and perch.  Live minnows will work best on these fish.

There is an outside chance that a flounder or two could show up in the shallow water around the Cape Henlopen Fishing Pier.  Try live minnows here.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
