WGMD Fishing Report 5-15-19

The weather on Tuesday wasn’t too bad, but no boats went out as far as I could tell.  The reason, other than small craft advisories, is black sea bass season opens on Wednesday and everything that floats will be on the ocean bright and early in the morning.

As bad as the weather was on Sunday, you would have thought no one would be fishing, but you would be wrong.  Julie Stevenson was surf fishing at Assateague Island when she hooked and landed a 35-pound striped bass.  That is a magnificent catch and she is to be congratulated.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle told us blues showed up at Indian River Inlet during the last of the incoming current on Tuesday.  Metal lures would have been the best bet, but the tackle shops love it when you use bucktails or soft plastics for blues.

Dan’s Tackle Box had a report from Chris and Joe Huk who caught eight out of ten black drum bites on Delaware Bay with fish to 60 pounds on Sunday releasing all but one.

This is Eric Burnley with you WGMD fishing Report
