WGMD Fishing Report 5-31-18

Hermann-Financial

Wednesday was cool and overcast with a brisk east wind and not many folks went fishing and those that did had poor luck.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said no one went out during the day, but one boat was headed to the drum grounds for a little night action.  The Katydid fished on Tuesday night and had a good catch of big drum fishing near Cape May.

The report from Lighthouse View Bait and Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park was nothing of note all day.  Clark at Old Inlet said he had not seen or heard of a fish and the same report came from Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em.

I did get a good report from my friend Frank Goodheart who fished offshore out of Ocean City on Saturday.  He and his crew had a very good catch of yellowfin tuna trolling in the Baltimore Canyon.  He said the warmest water was around 68 degrees and the coldest was almost 61 degrees.  As expected, the tuna were along the temperature break.  My son Ric fished out of Oregon Inlet on Monday and had yellowfin to 80 pounds.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
