After driving through some pretty thick fog, I arrived at Indian River Inlet around 6:45 AM on Monday morning. The current was running in, but no birds were working and after two hours of casting metal I gave up. I didn’t have a hit and didn’t see anyone else catch a fish.
I moved my operation to Three Rs Road where I fished with sand flea and bloodworm FishBites. Kept getting and missing tiny taps. Dropped down to the smallest hooks I had and finally on my last cast at noon I caught a pompano on a FishBite sand flea.
Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid came in with a load of sea bass and triggerfish. Payton Bailey caught a 24-inch flounder at the Savanah Road Bridge on a white Gulp!.
Dianna at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said a private boat did an overnighter and came home with an 86-pound swordfish and five yellowfins between 40 and 50 pounds. The Judy V had a good catch of sea bass, flounder and Spanish mackerel on her morning trip.
