Wilmington Woman Arrested for Rehoboth Beach Assault

Rehoboth Beach Police say they have arrested and charged 21-year-old Michelle Villa of Wilmington for a Sunday evening assault that took place outside of a restaurant and bar on Rehoboth Avenue.

Officers say just before 11 p.m. they responded to the Purple Parrot for a report of a fight in progress. Once they arrived, they observed Villa actively fighting at which time they attempted to handcuff her. She struggled with the officer before pulling away and attempting to flee. The officer eventually placed handcuffs on Villa and positioned her on the ground.

While attempting to take another person into custody, the Officer noticed Villa had freed from one of the handcuffs and was attempting to flee. The officer stopped her and further detained her. While taking Villa into custody the officer received a laceration on his leg.

Villa assaulted three individuals, two of which received minor injuries. Villa also received minor injuries.

Villa has been charged with one count of felony second degree assault resulting in the injury of a law enforcement officer, 1 count of felony resisting arrest and the following misdemeanor charges: 2 costs of third degree assault, 1 count of offensive touching and 1 count of disorderly conduct.

Villa was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on 14,200 dollars secured bail.
