Worcester Emergency Services Invites Residents to Help Update Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Worcester County Department of Emergency Services is updating the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and is asking residents to help identify natural and man-made hazards that could affect the Lower Eastern Shore. Four public meetings are scheduled in Pocomoke, Ocean Pines, Snow Hill, and Berlin during August and September. Assistant Chief of Emergency Management Katy Vieira says preparing for potential hazards begins by understanding residents’ concerns, adding that public input will help shape strategies to better protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.

Ā DES will host four public meetings throughout Worcester County:

  • August 5 at the Pocomoke Community Center at 6 p.m.
  • August 6 at the Ocean Pines Branch Library at 6 p.m.
  • September 2 at the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company at 6 p.m.
  • September 3 at the Berlin Branch Library at 6 p.m
