Dover Parents Charged Following One Year Old’s Death

Delaware State Police have arrested a mother and father after a child death investigation was later determined to be a homicide.

The investigation began in the early morning hours of April 30, 2017 when Troopers arrived at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for a death investigation of a child. They later learned that the parents had partaken in abusive actions toward the child. Troopers determined that the child’s cause of death was blunt force trauma associated with child abuse.

The mother, 26-year-old Chanel E. Green turned herself in at Troop 3 and was charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on 16,000 dollars cash only bond.

The child’s father, 25-year-old Antonio Hughes was charged with Murder by Abuse. He was arraigned and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on 1,000,000 dollars cash only bond.
