UPDATED: Fire Destroys Vacant Church near Georgetown

UPDATED – 2:45pm – State Fire Marshal investigators are trying to determine the cause and origin of a blaze at the St. Mary’s Holy Church on Donovans Road north of Georgetown.  Georgetown firefighters were called just after 12:15 Sunday morning and found fire through the roof.  Multiple area fire companies helped to battle the blaze.  Heavy fire damage is estimated at $50,000.  If you have any information on this fire – contact the State Fire Marshal – 302- 856-5600 or Crime Stoppers – 800-TIP-3333.

Georgetown Firefighters were called to a blaze on Donovans Road just after 12:15 Sunday morning.  When crews arrived at the scene they found a vacant church with flames shooting through the roof.  Crews from multiple fire companies helped to battle that blaze for nearly 4 hours.  The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
