UPDATED: Motorcycle Crash Near Millsboro Kills One Person

UPDATED – 5/29/19 – 9:45PM – Delaware State Police have identified 23-year-old Jabriell  Smith of Millsboro as the operator of a Suzuki motorcycle, who was killed as a result of a crash that occurred just after 11pm on Monday, May 27 on Oak Orchard Road east of Millsboro.

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that took place on Monday night east of Millsboro.

Troopers say the incident took place around 11:18 p.m. in the area of Oak Orchard Road south of John J. Williams Highway (SR 24) east of Millsboro. A 2018 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by a 23-year-old Millsboro man was traveling northbound on Oak Orchard Road at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle passed another vehicle, losing control of the vehicle and running off the east side of the roadway, striking a sign, then striking a metal telephone box, followed by a second road sign. The motorcycle overturned and began to tumble along the grassy shoulder of the roadway. The motorcycle broke through a vinyl fence and hit a tree, later tumbling and coming to a stop along the east shoulder of the roadway.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Oak Orchard Road was shut down for approximately three hours while Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
