Military exercises on Maryland’s western shore may disrupt residents peace and quiet on Delmarva over the next few days.

Between now and Friday, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, based in St. Mary’s County, MD, is conducting simulated field carrier landing practices, to help prepare pilots for landing on aircraft carriers. Airspeed, altitutde and power will all be precisely choreographed in order to create real-world scenarios for pilots to practice in. Officials say this means that there will be increased activity and noise levels in and around the naval base that could disrupt residents.

So if you hear any sonic booms around the region this week, or notice an increase amount of naval jets flying around, there is a high likelihood it might be connected to this training.
