Ocean City Considers Changes to Parking System

Hermann-Financial

The town of Ocean City is vowing to make changes to it’s “pay by plate” parking system, following complaints and criticisms from users.

The system, which was introduced last summer is described by some as “too complicated.” Many visitors say they have gotten fines they did not expect because of it. One report says since the new system was implemented, parking fines collected by the town have nearly tripled between 2017 and 2018.

Officials admit the system needs more clarity, saying they’ll add signage to better explain how to use the system’s kiosks and more signage, indicating where the kiosks are located. The new parking season begins on April 1.
