Ocean View Appliance Store Shut Down For Fraud

The Delaware State Police Financial Crimes Unit is investigating a business in which customers purchased appliances and the items have not been received.

Troopers began their investigation in February, when they were made aware of an incident in which a customer purchased appliances from Coastal Maytag located on Cedar Neck Road in Ocean View. They say the items were never delivered.

Further investigation unveiled that numerous customers had purchased appliances in which they either had paid in full or in part and had never received the merchandise of refund. DSP says to date around 30 fraudulent complaints have been filed to them against Coastal Maytag.

The business remains closed at this time as the Financial Crimes Unit investigates. Although no charges have been filed at this time, the investigation continues in conjunction with the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
