WGMD Fishing Report 11-15-18

The gale warnings for Thursday will be up again on Friday, but the weekend could be fishable and next week doesn’t look too bad right now.  Of course, all of that is subject to change without notice.

On Wednesday evening I attended the Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing Funding held in Dover.  This council has been meeting twice a year since the general fishing license passed into law with the charge of determining where the money raised by the license will be spent.

For the most part, the money goes towards building or maintaining fishing access points such as fishing piers and boat ramps.  One project that seems to have taken forever is the new boat ramp at Millsboro Pond.  Finally, everything is in place to begin the work.  The ramp will be reconfigured and there will be parking for seven trucks/cars with trailers.  A permanent dock will also be built.  As with all projects funded with license money, 75% comes from the federal excise tax on fishing equipment.
