WGMD Fishing Report 12-25-18

Tuesday, Christmas Day, saw all the tackle shops closed and I spent the day at home with my family so if anyone was fishing I wouldn’t know.

The last week of the year could see some decent action on tog and sea bass.  The sea bass are a long way off shore, but boats from Ocean City will be running out there and if I hear of any Delaware boats planning on making the trip I will be sure to let you know.

Several Delaware boats from both Lewes and Indian River will be tog fishing all winter.  I suggest you contact your favorite captain or call the marina at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em or Lewes Harbour for details.

The head boats from Belmar and Brielle, New Jersey will run all winter for tog and ling.  The ling fishing can be very good and they cook up real well.

Striped bass season is now closed in the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay.

The weather over the holidays looks reasonable and if you find the time to go fishing the upper reaches of the tidal rivers and creeks should still hold white and yellow perch, pickerel and bass.  Finding bloodworms may prove difficult, but good old earthworms will work just as well at this time of the year.  Good Luck!

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
