WGMD Fishing Report 3-17-19

Saturday was colder and there was a strong north wind bringing out small craft advisories for the bay and ocean.  I did see a couple of bass fishermen on a local pond, but don’t know if they had any luck.

Clark Evans at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported a short rockfish caught by Claude Davis during the first of the outgoing current on a swim shad on Friday.  This is the first fish I have heard of from the inlet all year.

I spoke with Scott from Fish OC and he said so far only tog from the ocean out of Ocean City.  He, like the rest of us, is waiting for the first rockfish or flounder from the back bays.

Lenny Rudow from Fish Talk reported that yellow perch are beginning to stir in all the tidal creeks and rivers with small white perch mixed in the catch.  The migration is only beginning so it will be a couple of weeks before the larger fish begin to feed.  Live minnows, shad darts, bloodworms, grass shrimp and earthworms will all attract the perch.
